I recently came upon a painting (one of a series) by Paul Klee that reminded me of a title page of Gorey's I always particularly liked, namely that of Les Passementeries Horribles: And here is the Paul Klee painting, called Transparent-perspektivisch (1921): The connection might be no more than coincidental, but taking into consideration that Gorey was likely an admirer of Klee's (one of the most influential artists on modern art, after all), I thought this would be worth mentioning. If I find more similarities between the two artists, I will post them here, or if I find similarities between other artists, I might re-purpose this thread for a wider topic. For a comparison of Max Ernst and Gorey see this thread.

I have found some works by French surrealist André Masson that remind me of Gorey's large insects, most notably in " The Insect God" and " The Untitled Book".
